With the changing of the season into spring I still feel lethargic and tired.
How can Acupuncture help me?
The days are getting longer, it is warmer outside. I should be full of energy and be on form. Yet, this is not the case. What the hell is going on?
I see this all the time in the clinic over the spring season. It can be a general lack of motivation, a feeling of having low energy, feeling of fighting of a cold or flu, depression, or just feeling down. All these symptoms are normal and often more present during the spring. And yes, acupuncture will help.
First, what is going on?
If we compare the cycle of the seasons to a cycle of a day, we would see that spring time is the equivalent to the sunrise and waking up from sleep. We are coming out of our deep moment of recuperating (winter and nighttime) and slowly adjusting to being more active (summer and daytime). This adjustment period can be easier for some than others. Just like some people are morning people (and those who aren’t hate morning people) we could also say some are spring people (they are not hated though by non-spring people). This would mean that there are some people who love spring and have an uptick in energy during this season. And other people who have difficulty waking up from the winter grogginess.
How acupuncture helps?
As you have probably noticed by now if you have read the other blogs, acupunctures main approach is to help the person to adapt to their environment at the moment of the treatment. Helping people adjust to the spring season is the same idea. Just like some people need a cup of coffee or some juice to help them start the day. Acupuncture can help kickstart the body into being in the cycle of movement after the long resting period of winter.
If you are feeling lethargic, tired, unmotivated you can get help with acupuncture.
